“The film does not think itself, it perceives itself. It directly offers us this special way of being in the world, of treating things and others, which is visible to us in gestures, looks, facial expressions. »

Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1948) in Sense and Non-Sense

BIO

I had doubts for a long time. Why cinema? Why add films to the massive pile of works, built up over the last 100 years? The partial answer has become obvious over the years: the art of editing allows us to express the ineffable, where words waver. It also allows you to create this bubble where two people who don’t know each other recognize each other. That's not bad.

I'm lucky. As an editor, I am the author's privileged accomplice. Each decision, whether instinctive or carefully considered, is nourished by the sounds, colors, and movements that mark the path I follow. The detours take me on side roads which will ultimately allow me to arrive at my destination.

Since I crossed the ocean to settle in Quebec a little over a quarter of a century ago, collaborative creation has allowed me to develop the qualities inherent to my work as an editor: sensitivity, listening and above all this quiet confidence which allows us to explore in order to tell better.

To tell and move people is not to pretend to understand the world. But if the constructed story allows you to add an introduction, a few acts and perhaps even a conclusion to see it better, that's not bad either.

SO...

Let's go a long way together, for the duration of a film?

And let’s talk about projects, intuitions, needs, inspirations.
